Interview with Guillaume Gallet, Director, Lomig & The French Grocer
What is your background?
I have been in the tourism industry for the past 30 years - specifically food and hospitality management. I initiated and managed the Procurement & Logistics office in Singapore for Club Med, overseeing 15 resorts in the Asia Pacific-Indian Ocean region.
A few words about your business
Very simple: we aim to provide restaurant-quality ingredients at unbeatable value to our customers. We prefer to source from reliable suppliers who practices sustainability. We also take great pride in knowing the origins of our food.
Why did you set up your business in Singapore?
In fact, setting up my business, Lomig, in Singapore was a logical sequence of my many years here with my previous company. I had built a strong and reliable network around the region. There is no better location than in Singapore, for this business!
What was the most difficult challenge to overcome on your entrepreneurial journey?
I will say... to make the correct decisions, at the right time! There are numerous factors to consider and things happen so quickly that you not only have to act fast, but right! Having said that, making a wrong decision could be a very good lesson too...
What are the next steps for your company?
We are developing more export business, not only focusing on food but also on Hotel Equipment. We are currently serving hotels and resorts in the Maldives, New Caledonia and Vanuatu. For 2016, we are looking to expand our services to Fiji and Sri Lanka, burgeoning travel destinations.
A few tips for new entrepreneurs?
Sure... Stay focus and always deliver what you promise.
Your business motto
