During this session, Mark Wong, Corporate Partner of Shook Lin & Bok, and Doris Marcellesi, Vice President & General Counsel for Asia Pacific, Middle-East, Russia, Africa at Essilor, will address the fundamental duties and liabilities of directors across different jurisdictions in the region, as well as the practical issues and considerations encountered by directors under different partnership scenarios.

About the speakers

Mark Wong, Corporate Partner, Shook Lin & Bok

Mark Wong is a Corporate Partner of Shook Lin & Bok.  His practice focuses on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, in particular China Outbound and "Belt and Road" investments, and includes advising on commercial contracts, joint ventures, private equity investments, corporate restructuring, SGX-ST listing rules, and construction and financing matters. He is listed in The Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2019 as a Recommended Lawyer for Projects & Energy (Local Firms) and Corporate and M&A (Local and Foreign Firms) in Singapore.  

Mark is proficient in Mandarin, English and French, and was the first Singapore qualified lawyer to be admitted to the Paris Bar. He has advised and represented major companies and business groups in China, France, Myanmar, Singapore and other countries in Europe, Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa—across such industries as manufacturing, natural resources, power, insurance, transportation, pharmaceuticals and real estate.

Prior to entering private practice, Mark was Counsel-in-Charge of one of the six teams at the International Chamber of Commerce Court of Arbitration Secretariat in Paris.

 

Doris Marcellesi, Vice President & General Counsel for Asia Pacific, Middle-East, Russia, Africa, Essilor

Doris Marcellesi is the Vice-President and General Counsel for Asia Pacific, Middle-East, Russia, Africa at Essilor, based in Singapore. Essilor is the worldwide leader of manufacturing and distribution of optical lenses. Essilor completed its combination with Luxottica in October 2018. The EssilorLuxottica Group is listed in the Euronext NYSE stock exchange in Paris and part of the “CAC 40” index.

Essilor is present in the region through several companies and joint ventures.

Doris supervises legal teams based in Singapore, India and Dubai. She is in charge of all legal matters across the region including an extensive M&A practice and is a member of the regional management committee.

Doris has more than 20 years’ experience. She is qualified from the Paris Bar and previously worked in private practice in France. Before joining Essilor in 2009, she was heading the Competition law department of a French law firm.
