Executive Programme 2024 - Fundamentals of German Commercial and Corporate Law

The event aims to offer insights into corporate and commercial law to support future business mandates within the European Union's economic framework

The Federal Republic of Germany represents the third largest export nation behind the People's Republic of China and the United States of America. In the first half of 2023 alone, the foreign trade balance was 98.7 billion Euros.

The event is therefore intended to provide important corporate and commercial law insights regarding the support of future mandates in the handling of business with the economic engine of the European Union.

This will be done first by conveying the basics of those sub-areas of law. First, different German corporate forms, their establishment, formation and organs and their dichotomous differentiation into partnerships and corporations will be discussed. Subsequently, possible claims of creditors against the company, but also a (potential) liability against the shareholders themselves are discussed. Based on these findings, the insolvency risks for business partners are thematized.

Finally, the presentation ends with a description of the powers of representation for the company.

The conference will be rounded off by a short panel discussion or Q&A session with the event participants.

Upon completion of the course, participants will have acquired a basic understanding of German specifics of corporate law. This will enable you to appear more confident and self-assured in legal and business dealings when handling international mandates vis-àvis German companies.

You will use case studies to illustrate the points discussed.
