Following the launch of Smart Health in June 2017, the French Chamber is organising a Smart Health Symposium.

Smart Health is a platform which brings together the French expertise in the healthcare sector to address the context of Singapore’s healthcare needs.

Following its launch in 2017, this Symposium will be its first event, and will provide an opportunity for healthcare actors to engage with stakeholders and experts represented at the event. Themed “The Innovative and Digital Healthcare Leap”, it highlights trends and new technologies that are shaping the landscape and explores perspectives on how innovation can be rapidly integrated to deliver tomorrow’s healthcare solutions.

It will bring together a plenary with key experts, workshops, presentations of start-ups, a networking lunch, and more to come!

The agenda will be as followed:

  • 7.45am: Registrations

  • 8.10am: Welcoming by Philippe Guibert, co-president of healthcare committee
  • 8.15am: Official speech by His Excellency Marc Abensour, Ambassador of France to Singapore
  • 8.20am: Plenary with Guest Speakers: How will new technologies disrupt the healthcare sector?

About the Speaker

  • Martin Hirsch, CEO of the Greater Paris University Hospitals (AP-HP) 

Martin Hirsch gratuated from Ecole normale superieure (biology) and Ecole nationale d’administration. He held various positions within the French administration : member of the council of State, chief of staff of the health minister, CEO of the French food safety agency.

He was member of the French Government between 2007 and 2010 as High commissioner for the policy against poverty and High commissioner for Youth. He chaired the national body in charge of volunteering, “agence du service civique”, before being appointed CEO of the Greater Paris University Hospitals (AP-HP). As a volunteer, he chaired for a long time the NGO called Emmaus.

At a European level, he was a member of several experts comities and, at an international level, a member of the UN - Commission chaired by Michele Bachelet aiming at building a social protection floor. He is the author of a dozen books related to social issues.

 

 

  • Julien de Salaberry, CEO & Co-founder of Galen Growth Asia: The Asia HealthTech Connector

Julien is the co-founder Galen Growth Asia, which with fellow healthtech entrepreneurs and investors, connects and catalyzes at the convergence of healthcare and technology.

With its mandate as the ecosystem builder, Galen Growth Asia launched HealthTech Alpha as the first of-a-kind analytics toolbox with the sole mission of fostering greater transparency and better decisions in a sector where there has been, to date, low visibility. Julien is also the founder of The Propell Group, a boutique venture investor and advisory firm, based in Singapore, focused on HealthTech innovation.

He has over 15 years of experience in healthcare with leading brands including Eli Lilly, Boston Scientific, Baxter, GSK, Merck&Co. He is an advisor to startups and incubators in healthcare and technology in emerging high growth markets as well as being a private investor in early stage and promising SMEs.

 

  • Danny Soon, Senior Director, Biomedical Research Council, A*STAR

Danny SoonDanny is currently the Senior Director at the Biomedical Research Council (BMRC), he joined A*STAR in 2015.

He previously worked at Eli Lilly and Company for 15 years in early phase clinical development, where he headed up the Lilly-NUS Centre for Clinical Pharmacology (LNUS).

As the Managing Director and Principal Investigator, Danny had responsibility and oversight for all clinical Phase 1 studies conducted and operations in the unit.

As an investigator, Danny was personally involved in over 90 clinical pharmacology studies, and oversaw over 130 studies at Lilly-NUS in various roles. This includes first-in-human studies, biomarker development work, human physiology investigations and pivotal registration PK studies, in neuroscience, diabetes, musculoskeletal and cardiovascular therapeutic areas.

 

 

 

About the Moderator

  • Kevyn Yong, Dean, ESSEC Asia-Pacific

Prof. Kevyn Yong is Dean of ESSEC Asia-Pacific and Associate Professor of Management at ESSEC Business School.

Prior to joining ESSEC, he was Associate Professor of Management at HEC Paris and also taught courses at Cornell University and the National University of Singapore.

He has been recognized for teaching excellence, notably by being awarded the Pedagogy Innovation Prize by the HEC Foundation and making the Dean’s Honor Roll at the S.C. Johnson School of Management at Cornell University. His research focuses on creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship, and leadership, particularly in the areas concerning cognition, collaboration, and social networks.

Kevyn received his Ph.D. in Management and Organizations from the S.C. Johnson School of Management at Cornell University. He also holds undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Philosophy from the National University of Singapore and a Masters degree in Mind, Brain, and Education from Harvard University.

His work has been published in the Academy of Management Journal, the Journal of Econometrics, the Journal of Experimental Psychology: General, the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, Small Group Research, Small Business Economics, and Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice.
