Alstom Powers the Completion of Singapore's Circle Line
The opening of three new stations, Keppel, Cantonment and Prince Edward Road, now closes the loop on one of the world's longest fully automated, driverless metro lines. The completed Circle Line now spans 39 kilometres across 33 stations, including 12 interchanges connecting commuters to every existing MRT line.
As the turnkey partner on this project, Alstom delivered the full system: including its Urbalis™ Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) signalling solution, enabling Grade of Automation 4 (GoA4) operations, as well as system integration, testing, and commissioning.
The completion of the line will improve travel efficiency for commuters. For example, journeys between Telok Blangah and Marina Bay can now be completed on a single train, reducing travel time by approximately 10 minutes.
Behind today's milestone are years of engineering, close collaboration and rigorous testing to ensure every train runs safely and reliably from day one.
