The secondary market for fine wines in Singapore is experiencing very strong demand, even in a slower economic context. Collectors and enthusiasts remain particularly attentive to the provenance, quality, and rarity of bottles, and continue to seek opportunities to enrich their collections.

Online sales of premium wines, initiated during the COVID-19 pandemic, have helped establish this momentum. Consumers, confined at home, developed the habit of purchasing bottles with just a few clicks, and this trend has continued since then. Wines priced above EUR 44 per bottle accounted for 23% of the market in 2023, with growth of 11.3% in the first half of 2024 according to Wine Importers Singapore.

Despite a general slowdown in consumption, Bordeaux retains exceptional popularity, particularly mature vintages from the 1980s and 1990s. Trading platforms, such as LiveTrade by Bordeaux Index, are observing strong activity with competitive auctions and growing interest in lesser-known producers and emerging regions. Rare wines, such as those from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, continue to generate enthusiasm among buyers, who are taking advantage of the current situation to access bottles at historically low prices.

Beyond the classics, Singaporean collectors are also showing a desire for discovery, exploring English estates or more recent Loire vintages. This openness demonstrates increasing market sophistication and a curiosity to diversify wine investments.

Singapore is thus positioning itself among the most active and dynamic secondary markets in the world. The fine wine market remains robust, driven by informed and engaged consumers capable of combining oenological passion with investment strategy. This momentum indicates that, despite economic challenges, the sector retains significant potential and continues to evolve toward greater diversity and sophistication.
