Europe Bets on Premium Beef and Lamb to Win Over Singapore.

A new promotional campaign for Irish beef and lamb has just been launched in Singapore, illustrating the growing importance of premium imported proteins, traceability, and sustainability in the local food chain.
Led by Bord Bia, Ireland's agri-food promotion body, and co-funded by the European Union to the tune of EUR 3.45 million, the "European Beef and Lamb – Sustainably from Ireland" campaign will run over three years, from 2026 to 2028, simultaneously in Singapore, Japan, and China. It aims to raise awareness among foodservice professionals, importers, and Singaporean consumers about the qualities of Irish beef and lamb: food safety, traceability, and sustainability commitments.
With no local beef or lamb production, Singapore remains entirely dependent on imports, while also serving as a regional hub for the whole of Southeast Asia. This dependence, combined with growing consumer demand for traceable and sustainable products, makes it a strategic market for European supply chains. Irish agri-food exports reached EUR 19 billion in 2025, of which over EUR 5 billion came from meat and livestock, with a 6% increase toward Southeast Asia (EUR 331.5 million), driven notably by Singapore.
The program includes collaborations with local chefs, partnerships with restaurants, and professional seminars, as well as visits by Singaporean importers to Ireland to discover the country's grass-fed farming systems and animal welfare standards.
This initiative is part of a broader trend of EU co-funded European campaigns — such as the Spanish "It's Time for European Beef" campaign led by Provacuno — which leverage origin, traceability, and sustainability to differentiate European meat in Singapore's premium segment. This positioning strategy could serve as inspiration for French supply chains looking to strengthen their own visibility in this market.
