Parima, the French entity recently formed following the acquisition of Vital Meat by Gourmey, has received regulatory approval from the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) to sell its cultivated chicken for human consumption. This marks a global milestone as the first approval for a European startup and represents the second authorization for cultivated meat granted in Singapore in 2025.

Vital Meat leverages proprietary cell line technology developed from nearly 25 years of avian research by Groupe Grimaud, transforming cells from fertilized chicken eggs into cultivated meat. Parima operates with combined bioreactors reaching capacities of several thousand liters, demonstrating significant industrial scalability.

The company prioritizes a "hybrid meat" approach, combining cultivated proteins with plant-based ingredients. Crucially, Parima insists on a "significant inclusion rate" of cultivated meat to ensure authentic taste, texture, and nutritional profile. Commercially, the company is initially targeting premium segments, with a strategy set for progressive expansion toward the mass market.

Nicolas Morin-Forest, CEO and co-founder of Gourmey, emphasized that this approval validates the safety and robustness of their multi-species platform. Furthermore, Parima has already filed a separate application with the SFA for its cultivated duck, aiming to become the first cultivated meat company to secure regulatory approval for two distinct animal species.
