The CEO Tech Club recently hosted the session "Navigating Advisory Boards: A Dual Perspective on Growth & Impact", which brought together French CEOs, founders, and SME leaders to explore how Advisory Boards drive agility and strategic success without formal statutory constraints.
In today’s rapidly shifting global market, an Advisory Board serves as a vital instrument for agility and strategic success. Unlike a formal Board of Directors, an Advisory Board offers flexible, independent challenge and high-impact governance without statutory or fiduciary obligations.
Facilitated by Stéphane Benoist (Co-Founder, Advisory Board France), the discussion featured Dr. Stanley Wang (Co-Founder & CEO, EtaVolt) and Jin Kiat Koh (Certified Chair & Director, Advisors Collective). Together, they shared actionable insights from both the founder’s and adviser’s perspectives on how advisory bodies operate in practice:
The Facilitator’s Insight: Stéphane Benoist unpacked the mechanics of structuring an Advisory Board, mapping out how independent advisers offer a recurring discipline to help leaders navigate growth cycles.
The Adviser’s Perspective: Jin Kiat Koh shared what it takes to challenge a CEO effectively, structure a "portfolio career," and add independent strategic value.
The Founder’s Experience: Dr. Stanley Wang reflected on the practical reality of being challenged by external advisers and leveraging outside wisdom to accelerate growth.
The CEO Tech Club is an initiative from the French Chamber of Commerce in Singapore and co-presidents Eric Barbier -Triple A, JC Bouglé – Authentic.ly, Denis Branthonne – Novade which gathers more than 50 French CEOs or Founders from the Tech Industry.
