Past Event | Dialogue with Olivier Garnier, Chief Economist at the Banque de France
The French Chamber and the French Foreign Trade Advisors (CCE) had the pleasure of hosting an insightful conversation with Olivier Garnier, Director General for Statistics, Economics & International at the Banque de France. His intervention offered a clear and structured perspective on current global economic shifts, notably the impact of recent US tariffs on the world economy—from trade balances to labour market dynamics—and how these developments are reshaping international economic relations.
Mr. Garnier also shared valuable reflections on France’s position on the global stage and within Europe, outlining both the challenges and strategic opportunities ahead.
The session concluded with a dynamic open discussion, with questions ranging from crypto-assets and monetary stability to gold reserves and central bank policy, reflecting the audience’s strong engagement and curiosity.
