Past Event | Navigating Green Finance: Green Bonds & ESG Strategies

Throwback on our latest Finance Committee meeting on Navigating Green Finance: Green Bonds & ESG Strategies – sponsored by our Committee Partner BNP Paribas.

A warm thank you to our esteemed speakers: Eleonore Dachicourt, Head of Sustainability, Wealth Management Asia at BNP Paribas, Eng Yew Yeoh, Director at Bureau Veritas, Marcel Ivison, Head of Financial Institutions APAC at Bureau Veritas, and Dilyara Salakhova, Professor at IESEG School of Management - for sharing their invaluable insights on the role of green bonds in financing the green transition

Key takeaways from the session included:

  • Blended finance is key: We need to combine philanthropic and private capital to drive sustainable initiatives.

  • Define credible decarbonization pathways and avoid greenwashing: It is essential to understand what genuine, science-based routes to decarbonization look like across different sectors, while engaging high-emitting sectors that have precise decarbonization goals.

  • Centralize and raise standards: We need to improve and harmonise sustainable finance standards, possibly through a "Green World Bank" for a more tailored approach.
