Past Event | Supply Chain Sustainability in Action: How to Measure, Manage and Improve
The French Chamber of Commerce’s Supply Chain and Logistics Committee hosted a session on “Supply Chain Sustainability in Action: How to Measure, Manage and Improve”, featuring speakers Mathilde Lerda (Logistics Director SEAO, Kering), Ivona Balint (Founder, Sustainao), and Rina Phua (Senior Sustainability Analyst, EcoVadis). Moderated by Derek Lee (Senior Business Development Manager, BSI Group), the conversation addressed how companies are responding to increasing regulatory, reputational, and stakeholder pressure by embedding sustainability across their supply chains—from measuring Scope 3 emissions to engaging suppliers and leveraging ESG tools.
Key takeaways included the importance of prioritising key suppliers for deeper collaboration, choosing the right Scope 3 calculation methods for actionable insights, and leveraging digital tools like ESG platforms for transparency and monitoring. Speakers stressed that sustainability should be embedded into business strategy—not treated as an add-on—with strong internal alignment and supplier partnerships as essential success factors. They emphasised on the need for a pragmatic and prioritised approach to supplier engagement, and the importance of aligning with global reporting frameworks such as CSRD, GRI, and ISSB. Panelists also highlighted the role of digital platforms in moving from compliance to impact, and shared real-world examples where sustainability data has led to operational change. The session concluded with a clear message: embedding sustainability into supply chains is no longer optional—it's essential for resilience, compliance, and long-term success.
Key Insights:
- Start with priority suppliers to manage resources effectively and drive scalable impact.
- Supplier engagement must be collaborative—encouraging transparency without overwhelming.
- Digital tools are critical but must be paired with human insight and continuous improvement.
- Reporting frameworks should guide but not constrain sustainability strategy.
