On April 28, 2026, on the sidelines of the Milipol TechX Summit in Singapore, Jean-Didier Berger, Deputy Minister to the French Minister of the Interior, met with K. Shanmugam, Singapore's Minister for National Security Coordination. This cooperation is based on a logic of mutual interest. Singapore is seeking advanced technological solutions, while France has expertise that could meet some of its needs. For its part, France is closely observing Singapore's experience in combating "crypto-kidnappings."
The visit to Thales's facilities at Ayer Rajah Crescent illustrated this dynamic of cooperation, grounded in concrete exchanges of expertise that go beyond mere statements of intent.
Building on Emmanuel Macron's visit in May 2025, the two countries have taken a further step: their relationship has been elevated to the status of a comprehensive strategic partnership. This expanded framework now covers areas such as civil nuclear energy, intelligence sharing, and defense technologies. It rests on a foundation of trust that allows for discussions on sensitive topics.
This cooperation extends beyond the bilateral framework. It also contributes to stability in the Indo-Pacific. As threats evolve faster than regulatory frameworks can keep pace, real-time information sharing is becoming a strategic priority.
