How can organisations turn AI governance principles into practical frameworks that balance innovation, ethics and regulatory compliance?

Most organisations now agree that AI needs governance. Fewer agree on what that means on a Monday morning. Principles have been written, committees formed and policies adopted. The harder question is whether any of it changes how AI is actually built, bought and used.

The regulatory landscape is fragmented: Europe has legislated, with the EU AI Act phasing in obligations while its own timetable continues to shift and Singapore has preferred frameworks, guidance and sector-specific expectations, particularly in financial and healthcare services. Businesses operating across both must reconcile the two, often with the same team and the same budget.

This panel brings together two complementary perspectives on AI governance: Maya Noël, CEO of Trustflow, Agorize, represents the startups and scale-ups developing AI and navigating an evolving regulatory landscape, while Céline Le Cotonnec, Managing Director at Bank of Singapore, offers insights from a regulated financial institution, where accountability, explainability and third-party risk are central to responsible AI adoption.

The discussion, moderated by Lucas Nicolet-Serra, Partner at K&L Gates, will cover how governance frameworks hold up in practice, where ethics adds something regulation does not, how agentic AI tests existing controls, and what boards and management should expect from their AI governance programs in the year ahead.
