Back by popular demand following his 2025 forecast CEO Club talk, DAVID FORRESTER, Senior FX Strategist at Crédit Agricole CIB, will be giving a look ahead into 2026. With geopolitical risks still looming large and central bank easing cycles ending, we look at what 2026 holds. His presentation will be followed by a Q/A session which will contribute to a deeper understanding of the economic dynamics.

Speaker:

After completing his honors degree in economics at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), David Forrester started his professional career at the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA). David worked in the RBA's Economic Analysis Department, where his analysis fed into the Assistant Governor's briefing and policy recommendation to the Board at its monthly meetings. Following three and a half years at the RBA, David joined IDEAglobal in Singapore where he worked for four years as an Economist and FX Strategist for the Australian, New Zealand and Japanese financial markets.

Following several years in the workforce, David decided to upgrade his skills and undertook a PhD in economics at the UNSW. His thesis dissertation was "Market probability density functions and investor risk aversion for the Australian-US Dollar exchange rate.”

After completing his PhD, David joined Barclays Capital as a Vice President in charge of Australian and New Zealand economics and FX Strategy. This role later grew into a G10 FX Strategist position.

David worked at Barclays Capital for five and a half years, before deciding to join Macquarie Bank as a Senior Vice President of G10 Foreign Exchange and Rates Strategy. He worked at Macquarie for nearly four years.

David joined Crédit Agricole CIB in 2016 as a Director and Senior FX Strategist in Hong Kong. He relocated to Singapore in 2022. David specializes in Foreign Exchange Strategy for commodity currencies, the JPY and the INR and MYR. In 2013, David was ranked the number one forecaster of major currencies by Bloomberg.
