Heron AirBridge Announces Major Milestone as Its New Product, AirSpot, Takes Shape

Heron AirBridge has reached an important milestone with the development of its latest product, AirSpot, now moving closer to deployment. AirSpot is a compact and portable Remote ID Receiver designed for rapid field operations. The device captures Remote ID broadcasts and transmits the data directly to the AirBridge Airspace Manager, offering users a clearer and real-time picture of the airspace.

The company recently completed a successful integration and outfield test, yielding highly promising results. During testing, AirSpot:

  • Detected Remote ID over Wi-Fi Beacon and Bluetooth 4 and 5, using both AirBeep-B and third-party Remote ID trackers
  • Picked up signals from Heron AirBridge’s AirBeep-Broadcast modules
  • Streamed telemetry into the AirBridge platform for remote monitoring of Remote ID detections

This integration — combining AirSpot (Remote ID ground receiver), AirBridge (airspace surveillance and C2 picture), and Remote ID technologies such as AirBeep — enhances the ability of airspace authorities to achieve improved oversight of unmanned aircraft activities. It also enables scalable airspace monitoring for both routine operations and contingency deployments.

Looking ahead, Heron AirBridge will conduct additional flight trials to further validate performance locally and replicate results observed overseas, where AirSpot successfully detected DJI Remote ID broadcasts at ranges of up to ~10 km during testing.
