Past Event | Budget 2026 Breakfast Talk

Throwback on the full-house cross-chamber breakfast talk on decoding the 2026 Singapore Budget.

The session reviewed Singapore’s robust 2025 performance, which saw a 4.8% GDP growth, one of the strongest years since 2021, driven largely by manufacturing and the global AI-led tech cycle. For 2026, the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) has upgraded its GDP growth forecast to a range of 2% to 4%.

Our sincere thanks to Alessandro Pedrinoni (CEO Asia Pacific, Fidinam) and Sofea Kamusuri (Relationship Manager, Fidinam) for their insights, as well as the Swiss Chamber of Commerce in Singapore and the Spanish-Singaporean Chamber of Commerce for co-organizing this breakfast talk.

Key takeaways included

  • Technology & Innovation Leadership: The budget prioritizes Artificial Intelligence as a primary national differentiator by establishing a National AI Council and dedicated "AI Missions." Supported by a $37 billion RIE2030 investment plan, these initiatives aim to drive transformation in manufacturing, finance, and healthcare through significant tax incentives and research hubs.

  • Workforce & Business Competitiveness: To ensure a future-ready economy, the government is merging key statutory boards into a single entity to streamline skills training while raising the Local Qualifying Salary to $1,800. Businesses will receive immediate support through corporate tax rebates and enhanced grants to manage operational costs and facilitate international expansion.

  • Social Resilience & Cost-of-Living Support: The budget introduces a robust package of direct financial aid, including CDC vouchers, cash payments, and utility rebates to help households manage rising costs. Specific top-ups and subsidies are also targeted at seniors, low-wage workers, and families with children to ensure inclusive growth and long-term social stability.
