Explore how Scope 2 reform will reshape renewable sourcing strategies, corporate claims, and market dynamics.

The upcoming reform of Scope 2 under the GHG Protocol is expected to significantly reshape how companies approach renewable energy sourcing and emissions reporting. With new concepts such as hourly matching and stricter localisation and deliverability requirements, the framework is shifting from a volume-based logic to a more granular and system-oriented approach.

For corporates, this reform could fundamentally change how energy procurement strategies are designed, how contracts are structured, and what can credibly be claimed in sustainability reporting. It introduces new operational, financial, and internal coordination challenges, requiring a different mindset and closer alignment between sustainability, finance, and energy teams.

At the same time, the reform is likely to influence renewable energy markets more broadly. Developers, financiers, and advisors are already assessing how project development, geographic demand, and market mechanisms may evolve under the new rules.

Rather than a traditional presentation format, this session will be designed as an open and strategic exchange. Participants from across the ecosystem will share perspectives on how they are preparing, what challenges they foresee, and what adjustments may still be needed before the framework is finalised.
