Malaysian engineer Jason Ng, founder of Cell AgriTech Group of Companies, has announced a major development for the regional Agrotech sector: the upcoming opening of his first cultivated meat production plant in Singapore, scheduled for October. The company is preparing to introduce high value cultivated proteins to the Singaporean market, specifically beef and eel (Unagi).

Following two years of research in Penang, Cell AgriTech made the strategic choice to locate its manufacturing facility in Singapore. This decision is driven by the presence of a clear and audited regulatory framework for cell culture, which is essential for commercialization. The Singapore plant is projected to have an annual production capacity of 20 to 30 tonnes of cultivated meat.

The mass market launch of products, including cultivated beef and eel, is targeted for 2026. Crucially, the company aims to obtain Halal certification for these products by the first quarter of 2026, thereby expanding accessibility to a broad and underserved consumer segment in the region.

Jason Ng emphasizes product quality: the cultivated meat, which resembles minced meat in its final form, offers the same taste profile and nutritional values as animal meat, but without the risk of pathogens or hormones. By focusing on beef and premium marine specialties like Unagi, Cell AgriTech positions itself in lucrative segments and confirms Singapore's role as an incubator and leader in the adoption of alternative proteins in Asia.
