The French Chamber of Commerce in Singapore, together with the Singaporean-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the SwissCham and Life Science Incubator, co-organised an insightful event at Elementum on “Policy to Practice:
Accelerating Oncology Innovation Through Public–Private Collaboration
As oncology innovation accelerates, translating breakthroughs into accessible and sustainable care remains a critical challenge. This session explored how stronger public–private collaboration can help bridge the gap between policy and practice, particularly as healthcare systems face growing pressure from rising costs, rapid scientific advances, and evolving patient expectations.
Panellists highlighted the need for greater transparency to build trust and enable more informed, collective decisions. Importantly, challenges in oncology extend beyond cost—limitations in infrastructure, workforce, and prevention awareness also play a significant role.
Striking the right balance between regulation and innovation is essential. While oversight is necessary, overly restrictive approaches risk slowing progress. Ultimately, fostering trust, improving transparency, and rethinking collaboration models will be key to accelerating sustainable oncology innovation.
Key Learnings
Financing models lag behind advances in personalised medicine
Transparency is key to building trust and enabling shared decisions
Cancer care challenges go beyond cost, including infrastructure and manpower
Prevention and personalised awareness remain underdeveloped
Innovation must be assessed for value, not just cost
New, collaborative models are needed to ensure long-term sustainability
