2022 is a milestone year for data privacy and cyber security laws developments across Southeast Asia: moderated by Peggy Chow, Of Counsel at Herbert Smith Freehills, this lunchtime session will highlight the developments in the following jurisdictions:
- Singapore, we will briefly discuss our practical experiences in advising client on their data breach notifications in Singapore.
- Indonesia: The new Personal Data Protection Law became effective on 17 October 2022. We will highlight the key requirements under the new law.
- Thailand: Multiple data protection guidelines have been issued to supplement the Personal Data Protection Act, which became fully effective on 1 June 2021. We will focus on Thailand’s data breach notification regime.
- Vietnam: The draft Personal Data Protection Decree is still pending promulgation, while a new Decree 53 has been issued to provide guidance on the Cybersecurity Law. We will focus on the data localisation requirement.
