AES Sydney Section Event: Spatial Sound and Immersive Audio
About This Event
The AES Sydney section along with supporting partners L-Acoustics and UTS Tech Lab are holding a presentation on Spatial Sound and Immersive Audio focusing on current research at the UTS Tech Lab in personal sound and active noise cancellation and industry applications for large live audiences with L-Acoustics.
In addition to presenters on the topic, there will be a tour of the UTS Tech lab facilities and demonstrations of current research in Personal Sound Zones and Active Noise Cancellation. The tour will see the full Anechoic Room, Hemi-Anechoic Room, Reverberation Chamber, and Transmission Loss Suite.

Speakers
Dr Sipei Zhao, UTS
Dr Sipei Zhao is a Senior Lecturer and the Theme Leader in Audio Acoustics at the Centre for Audio, Acoustics and Vibration of University of Technology Sydney. He has published 80 research papers in top journals and conferences in the field of audio and acoustics. His research in active noise control, personal sound zones, spatial audio and acoustic signal processing has been sponsored by multiple government and industry grants.
Damien Juhasz, L-Acoustics
Damien Juhasz is a Sydney‑based Technical Specialist at L‑Acoustics, supporting consultants across the APAC region. With over 20 years in professional audio, he brings extensive experience in system design, modelling, commissioning, and training. Damien is passionate about immersive audio and its ability to transform live events and deepen audience connection.
