GTT, BLOOM ENERGY and PONANT EXPLORATIONS GROUP Partner on Integrated Energy System for Sustainable Shipping

GTT – Technology for a Sustainable World, Bloom Energy, and PONANT EXPLORATIONS GROUP have announced a joint project to develop an integrated energy system combining Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC) powered by LNG with Marine Carbon Capture, designed to cover the vessel’s onboard energy consumption.

The objective of the project is to supply auxiliary electricity for the vessel while simultaneously capturing CO₂ from exhaust gases. This dual approach, which combines emission reduction with the reuse of low-temperature energy from the ship’s cryogenic installations, is expected to further enhance the overall efficiency of the SOFC system.

As part of the initiative, GTT will design and develop a Marine Carbon Capture system that is compatible with Bloom Energy’s SOFC technology.

The system is planned to equip PONANT EXPLORATIONS GROUP’s future Swap2Zero cruise vessel by 2030, which will be powered by a wind-assisted system in combination with fuel cells.
