Past Event | Site Visit with CEVA Logistics, a state-of-the-art logistics facility, showcasing innovation and automation in action

The French Chamber of Commerce in Singapore recently organised an exclusive visit to the CEVA Logistics Blue Hub, offering members a firsthand look at a truly state-of-the-art logistics facility. The visit showcased how CEVA Logistics is transforming the supply chain landscape in Singapore and the region through cutting-edge innovation, robotics, and an unwavering commitment to sustainability.
The tour began by highlighting the constraints driving CEVA Logistics’ focus on automation. Given that warehouse rental costs in Singapore are significantly higher compared to France, optimising every square meter of shelving space is critical. Automation is the key solution to maximize density, pace, and cost-efficiency.
CEVA Logistics’ Blue Hub demonstrated several groundbreaking technologies across its operations:
- Inbound & Storage:
- Inbound Depalletising: Automated systems handle the initial stages of receiving goods.
- Goods-to-Person (G2P) Technology: Designed to tackle the most time-consuming task—picking items for orders. Systems like the Shuttle Picking System and AGV Picking System utilise full-height shelving and Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) to maximise storage density and bring inventory directly to the human operator, significantly boosting efficiency.
- Mobile Shelving: Further enhances density and dynamic storage management.
- Value-Added Services (VAS) Automation:
- CEVA Logistics has implemented robotics to increase efficiency and flexibility in complex, variable tasks, particularly with the wide range and seasonal nature of modern products.
- Key applications include Robotic Kitting and Labelling, Robotic Palletizers, Robotic Kitset Packers, and sophisticated Label Applicators.
Beyond the hardware, CEVA Logistics detailed its strategic approach to maintaining a leadership position when it comes to innovation:
- Collaboration with the Government: Regular engagement with government bodies allows CEVA Logistics to align its growth and governance with market trends and national strategic discussions.
- Partnerships with Institutes of Higher Learning: Active collaboration with local universities and research institutions drives R&D and secures the pipeline for future logistics solutions.
- Engagement with Startups and Local Vendors: CEVA Logistics actively seeks disruptive solutions by partnering with startups and local vendors, ensuring access to cutting-edge technology and commitment to crucial after-sales support.
The visit to the CEVA Logistics Blue Hub offered attendees invaluable insights into the practical application of industrial automation and the necessary ecosystem required to sustain technological leadership in a high-cost environment like Singapore.
