David TanExecutive Director of Office for Space Technology & Industry at EDB

David TAN serves as Executive Director for the Office of Space Technology & Industry (OSTIn). As central office for the Singapore Government, it develops national strategy, addresses space related matters and identifies differentiated technologies to build and grow space capabilities as an industry that contributes both to economy and national needs.

He served in various capacities within the public and private sectors in Singapore. He had spent 28 years with the Republic of Singapore Airforce and helmed the role of Brigade Commander. He also served a stint as Deputy Commandant in the Singapore Command & Staff College in mentoring and preparing future leaders before they were appointed into command or staff appointments for the respective Services within the Singapore Armed Forces.

He designed operational system requirements for the Next Generation of Decision Support System especially for Rapid Cognition and Augmented Cognition modules in complex operations. When he retired from the Airforce, he had spent a stint in the DSO National Lab as Head Ops Technology in pursuing technologies for game-changing Concept of Operations & experimentations.

David also spent 10 years in a global company and was once the Chief Technology Officer in ST Engineering (Electronics Sector) and concurrently the Head of Data Analytics Strategic Technology Centre for ST Engineering in developing AI solutions for business growth relevant for maritime, aviation, land robotics and electronics sectors.
