Join our 4-hour workshop to learn about Effective Intercultural Communication and Conflict Resolution
Optimizing collaboration, decision making, problem solving and leading across cultures require a high level of trust, the ability to adjust one’s communication style, and the skills to manage conflict effectively. This workshop focuses on self-awareness and style flexing to achieve positive outcomes when communicating with peers, colleagues, direct reports and clients from other cultures in APAC.
The key objectives and outcomes of this workshop for the participants are:
- Learning how to build trust and relationships across cultures
- Self-awareness on their own communication style and preferred conflict mode while understanding other cultures’ preferred communication styles and conflict modes
- Reflecting on their personal strengths and challenges and how to adapt their communication and conflict approaches to communicate and resolve conflict in a culturally appropriate manner.
- Preparing a personal action plan to further develop their cross-cultural communication and conflict resolution skills and achieve positive outcomes.
Training Content:
Effective Communication across cultures:
The following topics will be covered with special emphasis on cultural differences and self-awareness:
Building trust and relationships across cultures, verbal, non-verbal (Gestures, facial expressions, spatial zones, postures, dress code…), vocal and written communication, micro-aggressions. We will use specific country comparisons and a cross-cultural assessment tool (free access for each person) to demonstrate the key cultural dimensions of communication and how to adjust one’s communication style.
Conflict Resolution across cultures
Definition of conflict, conflict cycle, levels of conflict, conflict styles (Thomas Kilmann) and cultural preferences in Apac when resolving conflict. We will use a case study and a cross-cultural assessment tool to allow participants to reflect on the advantages and challenges of the different options available to resolve conflict.
At the end of the workshop, participants will create their action plan for behavioural adjustment and enhanced personal effectiveness.
Who should participate?
- Managers and leaders working in the APAC region
- Members of multicultural teams
- Organizational functions (HR etc)
- Individuals willing to develop their self-awareness for professional and personal competencies development
