Event report
Past Event | Towards a Sustainable and Resilient Industrial Ecosystem

The Energy & Infrastructure Committee recently organised a panel discussion bringing together leading industrial players to explore how sustainability and circularity are reshaping business models across Asia.
Our sincere thanks to our speakers: Chen Yang, HPP Business Director, Arkema; Aaron Tan, Head of Business Development and Energy Transition, Air Liquide; Matthieu Gillet, General Manager, On-Site Services to Industrial Clients, Veolia South East Asia; as well as our moderator Noémie Lauer, Executive Vice President & Managing Director, Asia, Capgemini.
The session explored why sustainability has become a strategic imperative for industrial companies, driven by regulatory evolution, resource scarcity, shifting customer expectations, and long-term competitiveness. Speakers shared how sustainability is increasingly embedded into corporate strategies, operations, and innovation roadmaps, transforming both risks and constraints into growth opportunities.
Discussions highlighted the importance of moving beyond isolated initiatives toward sustainability at scale. Key themes included organisational transformation, ecosystem collaboration, technological readiness, and the role of partnerships in accelerating decarbonisation, circularity, and operational efficiency across industrial value chains.
The panel also addressed the specific challenges faced in Asia, including energy mix constraints, uneven regulatory landscapes, infrastructure maturity, and cost sensitivity, while emphasizing the region’s strong momentum and potential as a testbed for innovative and scalable sustainability solutions.
Key takeaways
- Sustainability is now a core strategic driver, not a peripheral CSR initiative.
- Collaboration across ecosystems is essential to scale impact effectively.
- Circular economy models offer both resilience and competitive advantage.
- Asia represents both a challenge and a major opportunity for sustainable industrial transformation.
A heartfelt thank you to Arkema, Air Liquide, Veolia and Capgemini for their valuable insights and contributions to this important dialogue.
