BANSARD International Joins Air France KLM Martinair Cargo In Reducing CO2 Emissions Air
Air France KLM Martinair Cargo (AFKLMP) And BANSARD International Have Concluded An Agreement Under The Airline's Sustainable Aviation Fuel Programme
The partnership includes an annual investment by Bansard which AFKLMP will commit to purchase Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), with the contribution being used to cover the cost difference between conventional aviation fuel and SAF.
On Tuesday 25 January, Christophe Boucher, EVP Air France Cargo, and Bénédicte Duval Duval, VP Area Intercontinental at AFKLMP Cargo, welcomed the delegation from Bansard International led by Simon Pinto, President of Bansard International, to the Air France headquarters at Roissy Charles de Gaulle to sign the mutual agreement. This action completes the various initiatives taken in favour of more responsible logistics: ISO 14001 certification, 4PL label, investment in new P400 trailers, etc.
" We are very proud to join the SAF programme of Air France KLM Martinair Cargo. As French-European companies, it is important to contribute together to reducing carbon emissions in the airline industry. This action is part of a global and voluntary approach to sustainability within Bansard-SEKO Group. It is essential to commit and empower the transport and logistics industry to evolve and innovate towards more environmentally responsible solutions" announce Simon Pinto, President of Bansard International.
Loïc Benattar, Vice President Asia-Pacific at Bansard adds: “As top leading airfreight providers from Asia to Europe, it is compulsory for Air France KLM Martinair Cargo and Bansard International to commit to a cleaner, more sustainable and more responsible approach with concrete actions on that trade. This programme is a logical extension of our mutual commitments with our trusted partner and attests to Bansard International's concrete efforts to move towards even more responsible logistics”.
Rahul Pathak, Director Greater China at AFKLMP Cargo comments: ”Very satisfying to see a business partner, Bansard International, with whom we have such a long, fruitful and mutually beneficial relationship, today also taking the step and joining Air France KLM Martinair Cargo in committing to sustainability. Together we can make the world and the air cargo industry a clean, green and environmentally conscious one”.
The aviation sector currently accounts for 2-3% of global man-made CO2 emissions. SAF represents an alternative fuel for aviation. It is a sustainable alternative to fossil fuel that reduces carbon emissions to 85%. It is blended with conventional fossil fuel and can be used by all aircraft engines.
The AFKLMP Cargo SAF programme enables different stakeholders in the logistical airfreight industry to power a percentage of their flights with SAF. By participating to this programme, Bansard International not only reduce their own carbon footprint, but also confirm their commitment to leading the industry towards a more sustainable future. Only with the support of all stakeholders can we successfully develop a more viable market for SAF.
