Bureau Veritas and MPA Expand MoU, Launching Centre for Maritime Electrification with SIT
Bureau Veritas has announced the expansion of its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), marking a key milestone in maritime innovation with the creation of the BV-SIT Centre for Maritime Electrification (CoME).
Developed in partnership with the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), the new centre will advance next-generation maritime electrification technologies, including fuel cells, digital switchboards, and smart energy management systems.
This initiative tackles the complex challenge of ensuring that these interconnected systems operate safely and reliably at sea. Fuel cells demand different safety protocols than batteries, digital switchboards require new cybersecurity standards, and smart energy systems must seamlessly integrate AI into marine operations.
With a focus on real-world applicability and certification readiness, Bureau Veritas and SIT aim to support industry players in navigating technical and regulatory requirements.
The future of maritime is electric—and Bureau Veritas is calling on partners ready to make it a safe and sustainable reality.
