Cartier gives a nod to Singaporean heritage and culture at new Changi Airport boutique

Cartier has unveiled a boutique at Changi Airport Terminal 3 in partnership with Valiram.

The opening marks the French luxury house’s first full-line boutique at Changi, advancing plans to extend its global travel retail footprint with a growing presence across Europe, Oceania and Asia.

Cartier has developed a network of more than 20 boutiques in key travel retail locations worldwide including Paris, London, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Dubai. Last year, the luxury house added four more airport boutiques to its global network.

The T3 boutique features an elegant design and luxurious ambience, a familiar feature at Cartier locations across the globe.

A tribute to Singaporean heritage

The new airport concept highlights the signature design codes of the Maison, while incorporating elements representing Singapore’s culture, architecture and natural landscape, evoking a distinctive Sense of Place.

The store design represents the integration of the urban scenery and greenery of the city-state.

The boutique’s façade reflects the symmetrical silhouettes of local landmarks.

Among the most prominent highlights is the feature wall depicting the popular Supertrees and tropical foliage of the Gardens by the Bay.

This bespoke artwork, featuring straw marquetry, echoes the movement of four panthers roaming among lush vegetation.

To celebrate Singapore’s local heritage, the store interiors incorporate local design elements including auspicious colours, believed to bring longevity, wealth and prosperity. The Cartier champagne tone and added pea-green hue blend seamlessly with textured copper-coloured walls, to mirror the intricate patterns of Peranakan textiles.

Another distinctive feature is the green marbled fluted wall, which is reminiscent of Singapore’s urban landscape. A blend of wood elements brings warmth and a touch of nature to the space.

The store aesthetic is further enhanced by the marble floors that drew inspiration from Singapore’s official mascot, the Merlion. The pattern of the mythical creature’s shell-like scales features across all corners of the space.

The boutique showcases a full offer of the brand’s popular jewellery and watchmaking collections, as well as fragrances, gifts and accessories including leathergoods.

In addition, a VIP area welcomes clients to discover more about Cartier’s products in a cosy and exclusive environment.

Cartier global travel retail director Virginie Martignac said: “We are thrilled to announce the expansion of our presence in this vibrant travel hub. It marks an exciting journey of growth for us as we forge deep connections with travellers. With each new boutique, Cartier furthers its leadership as the unmissable jewellery retailer and marks another step in driving meaningful change in the travel ecosystem.”

Valiram executive director Mukesh Valiram added: “The opening of this boutique is a testament to Valiram’s longstanding partnership with Cartier and reinforces our shared commitment towards bringing the best of luxury experiences to the fashion and watch community. We look forward to providing travellers at Changi Airport with an unparalleled shopping experience and inviting them to immerse themselves in the Maison’s exceptional craftsmanship and timeless beauty, through an impressive line-up of watches, jewellery and accessories.”
