CMA CGM Group’s newest Container Depot in Indonesia handled 150,000 (TEU) containers in nine months

The CMA CGM Group, a global leader in sea, land, air and logistics solutions, announces its newest Container Depot in Cakung, Indonesia, is reported to have handled 150,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) containers as at May 2022 in only nine months of operations. The Group’s fourth and largest container depot in the country started operations in August last year.
Occupying an area of 35,000 sqm with an operating capacity of more than 4,000 (TEU) containers, the depot caters primarily to commodity exports such as paper and rubber, as well as manufactured products such as garments, footwear and electronic items among others from Indonesia.
CONTAINER Grade Selection, the best solution for transporting cargo complying with food specifications
The facility has become synonymous with CONTAINER Grade Selection, CMA CGM’s solution for shipments that must comply with stringent food product specifications. The depot has handled five times more average monthly container volume in the first quarter this year versus the last quarter of 2021.
More than just dry container stuffing, the deport specializes in handling non-dangerous liquid shipments in Flexitank containers which CMA CGM has shipped from Indonesia.
The depot is characterised by its fast, less-than-20-minutes turnaround time for vehicles discharging and picking-up containers from the facility, thanks to to its fully-automated vehicle entry and exit systems.

The one-stop depot also conducts pre-trip inspection, container pre-cooling; reefer monitoring as well as container cleaning and repair. With its wastewater recycling system, the facility reuses up to 70 % of recycled water from container washing. Each day, up to 15,000 litres of water are recycled.
Currently running its machinery on biofuel, the facility will soon be installed with rooftop solar panels to power its office operations and depot lighting in the second half of 2022. This will make the CMA CGM Cakung depot one of the first in Indonesia to be solar-powered.
