France and Singapore Launch Joint Year of Sustainability
In a significant move towards promoting sustainability on a global scale, France and Singapore have joined forces to launch the Joint Year of Sustainability (JYOS). The announcement was made in Paris on April 11, 2024, during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence WONG and President Emmanuel MACRON.
The JYOS, scheduled to run from April 2024 to June 2025, aims to tackle pressing environmental challenges through a series of events, conferences, and workshops in Singapore and France. With a focus on themes such as circularity, new energy, and green finance, the initiative seeks to drive actionable solutions and foster collaboration between the two nations.
The kick-off of the JYOS in Singapore was announced during the French Chamber Gala Dinner on April 12, 2024, by H.E. Minh-Di TANG, French Ambassador in Singapore and Teow Lee FOO, Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to France. Attended by 550 guests with representatives from large corporations and VIP invitees, the event served as a platform to highlight the importance of sustainability in business practices and beyond.
Following the launch in Paris, the JYOS will continue to gain momentum in Singapore this week during the Singapore Maritime Week.
