IFS celebrates a new 5 year agreement with the AEFE

This collaboration strengthens their commitment to providing world-class French education right here in Singapore.

The signing ceremony, held on October 11, 2023, saw the Ambassador of France to Singapore, Her Excellency Ms. Minh Di Tang, and Mr. Jean-Marc Arnaud Deromedi, President of the Executive Committee (Board) at IFS, come together to mark this occasion.

“It is a great satisfaction for me to renew the agreement between the International French School (Singapore) and the Agence pour l’Enseignement Français à l’Étranger. IFS is the flagship of our French education not only in Asia but also worldwide, an educational gem serving not only our French community in Singapore but the entire educational community. I know that the negotiations preceding this renewal took into account the specificity of this institution that is dear to us, and I thank the members of the Executive Committee as well as AEFE for the constructive and collaborative spirit in which this discussion took place.”  Her Excellency Ms Minh-di Tang, Ambassador of France to Singapore.

President of the Executive Committee (Board) at IFS, Mr. Jean-Marc Deromedi, proudly represented the school as the signatory.

“As we pen this agreement with the AEFE, we open new doors for our students, creating pathways to boundless opportunities. At IFS, we believe in fostering an environment where students can explore their full potential and find their unique place in the world. This partnership reinforces our commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals who are not only academically proficient but also culturally enriched and globally aware.” – Mr. Jean-Marc Deromedi, President of the Executive Committee (Board) at IFS.

The event was overseen by Ms Emilienne Baneth-Nouailhetas, the French Embassy’s Counsellor for Culture, Education and Science, AEFE Head Office Delegate and Asia-Pacific Region Head Mr Guillaume Cario,  Mr David Binan, Principal at IFS, members of the Executive Committee, Mr Yves Marcel, IFS Executive Director, and members of the school’s leadership team.

As part of the AEFE network, IFS students will have the opportunity to attend French schools worldwide, from nursery all the way to the baccalauréat, without interruption. IFS holds certification from the AEFE, covering administrative, financial, and educational matters, and serves as an examination centre and deliberation venue for the Asia Pacific Baccalauréat zone and the DNB (Diplôme National du Brevet).

Accreditation from the French Ministry of National Education ensures that IFS complies with the French education system’s requirements, programmes, educational objectives, and organisational rules. This accreditation grants students the privilege of pursuing their studies in any other accredited French institution without needing admission exams.

Furthermore, being a part of the AEFE network enables IFS to benefit from AEFE’s comprehensive and continuous professional development policy for staff across the network, guaranteeing the best educational experience for our students.

The International French School (Singapore) will continue to respond as closely as possible to the expectations of each and every one of its students, ready to face all future developments and challenges.
