LPE Singapore: Inauguration of the new premises
March 26, 2024, will remain a historical milestone for LPE Singapore, with the inauguration of its brand new site located only a 10-minute drive away from the school’s original premises at Bukit Timah. The ceremony unfolded in the presence of the Ambassador of France to Singapore Madame Minh-Di Tang, and Mr Luc Chatel, former Minister of National Education and Executive President of the Odyssey group, which LPE joined in 2021. Members of the LPE team, students and parents, long-standing partners and new ones all gathered for this very special occasion.
LPE Singapore settles in Holland Village
The relocation from Bukit Timah and Newton, where elementary classes were hosted by the Alliance Française in recent years, marks a new chapter for LPE Singapore. The premises at Holland Village allow for the much anticipated consolidation of both kindergarten and elementary classes, with a capacity that could welcome double the number of students in the coming years - up to 240 students in total.
The family-friendly atmosphere of the One Holland Village new complex, with its charming cafes and bustling restaurants, aligns seamlessly with LPE Singapore’s commitment to fostering close-knit relationships within the school community.
An evening to remember
The relocation took place amidst the end-of-year festive season, with the school poised to commence operations anew on January 8, 2024, at its new address in One Holland Village. Following the initial period of adjustment to the new surroundings, anticipation ran high within the school community, eager to usher in a fresh chapter and applaud the unwavering commitment of the team to LPE's project.
On March 26, the symbolic ribbon was officially cut by Luc Chatel and French Ambassador Madame Minh-Di Tang, in the presence of current school principal Florian Cossa, who emphasised LPE's integration into the Singaporean educational landscape and its mission to promote open-mindedness, self-mastery, and freedom of thought. After acknowledgements from two current students and a testimonial from a former student, Fabrice Humann, who has worked for the Odyssey group in several countries and will take over as school principal next term, was introduced.
Luc Chatel expressed his delight at LPE's new start in Singapore with the expansion of the curriculum all the way to Grade 5, the increased emphasis on Mandarin in a programme unique to Singapore, and the diversity of extracurricular activities. He also reiterated that the goal of the Odyssey Group is to promote an educational system that combines the best of what French and Anglo-Saxon models have to offer.
Finally, the French Ambassador praised the perfect complementarity between LPE and the IFS, also represented at the event, noting that this new dynamic of LPE perfectly aligns with the French President's goal of doubling the number of students in French educational institutions abroad by 2030. She also expressed her admiration for the young students' ability to express themselves in public.
The ceremony concluded with the unveiling of the inaugural plaque and the traditional lion dance, symbolising prosperity and luck for LPE in its new premises.
A cocktail in the breezy outdoor space on the 4th floor followed, allowing members of the LPE team, parents, students, and partners to mingle over refreshments.
