Past Event | Sustainability & Responsibility Club 2023 Session #1

The Sustainability & Responsibility Club is a peer-to-peer forum for CEOs, CSOs and Sustainability leaders in their organisation to share their knowledge and experiences in a confidential and trusting environment.

Thank you to our speaker, Malavika Jain Bambawale, Managing Director (APAC), and her team at ENGIE Impact for presenting “Implementing Net Zero Strategies” and leading the discussion with participants. The session featured APAC-specific analysis and the key takeaways and findings from the Net Zero Report by ENGIE Impact.

Highlights and key takeaways of the session:

  • Companies are becoming more confident to execute their sustainability programme. However, organisations need to keep their energy up as they begin to face more significant barriers to decarbonisation implementation. Only 12% of surveyed organisations believe they are on track to meet or exceed their ambitious decarbonisation goals. Companies are still facing challenges such as lack of cross-functional approach to decarbonisation goals; lack of incentive or ownership at executive level to drive decarbonisation action etc.
  • Companies in APAC not only see investments in decarbonisation as actions of good corporate citizen but also see these investments making business sense.
  • 36% of surveyed businesses in APAC believe that decarbonisation is an investment for operational efficiency and eventual long-term cost savings.

Thank you to our members of the Sustainability & Responsibility Club for joining our 1st session of the year in 2023!
