The French Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with SOCOMEC, organised an engaging symposium at SOCOMEC’s Asia Pacific Headquarters. Titled "Exploring Innovative Solutions for Energy Efficiency," the event was part of the Joint Year of Sustainability between France and Singapore. It brought together industry leaders and experts to discuss sustainable energy practices, innovative technologies, and future trends in energy management.

Thank you to Mr. O'Niel Dissanayake, CEO Asia Pacific at SOCOMEC for his warm welcome and opening address, setting the stage for a productive and insightful session.

The symposium’s agenda featured inspiring presentations:

  • Mr. Marco Lorenzi, Asia Pacific Marketing Manager at SOCOMEC, highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainability and its innovative contributions to energy management in the region.
  • Mr. Yong Ping Quen, Technical Director & Co-Partner at Building System and Diagnostics, outlined Singapore's ambitious goals and key milestones for achieving super-low energy buildings through innovative solutions and stakeholder collaboration.
  • Mr. Alvin Lim, Regional Marketing Lead (SEAP countries) at SOCOMEC, presented practical approaches and technologies to meet and exceed energy efficiency benchmarks.

The highlight of the event was a dynamic panel discussion, moderated by Ms. Shazia Dewany, Business Controller at SOCOMEC. Esteemed panelists shared diverse perspectives on the challenges and opportunities of implementing energy-efficient systems:

  • Ms. Tang Yee Wah, Managing Director at ENGIE Lab Singapore
  • Mr. Alex Tan, VP Operations and Digital at Sunollo
  • Mr. Wai Tai Yeap, Regional Managing Director, Southeast Asia Pacific at SOCOMEC
  • Mr. Yong Ping Quen, Technical Director & Co-Partner at Building System and Diagnostics

Key Takeaways from the Discussion:

  1. Singapore’s "80-80-80 in 2030" target demonstrates the importance of collaborative efforts between government, industry, and academia to achieve a sustainable built environment.
  2. SOCOMEC’s DIRIS Digiware platform, PreciSense, VirtualMonitor, AutoCorrect, and ENGIE Lab Singapore’s innovative management systems exemplify how smart technology can streamline energy management and reduce consumption effectively.
  3. Sunollo’s use of artificial intelligence to predict and manage energy demand highlights the role of digital transformation in achieving sustainable outcomes.
  4. As energy systems become more connected, addressing cybersecurity and data protection concerns was identified as an increasingly pressing issue for energy efficiency solutions.
  5. Stakeholder alignment is key to overcoming challenges in integrating diverse energy-efficient technologies and ensuring scalability.
  6. Advanced technologies such as zero-energy systems and enhanced measurement tools are critical for driving the transition to SLE buildings in Singapore and beyond.

We thank all speakers, panelists, and participants for their valuable contributions, which made this symposium a resounding success!
