Spotlight on Patricia Rivero: A Journey in Jewellery Design
Patricia Rivero, jewellery designer and entrepreneur, shares how she transformed a family legacy into a successful business.
Can you share the story behind your journey into jewellery design?
I’ve always loved jewelry. My father was a stone dealer, and in my mother’s side of the family—my aunts and grandmother—were deeply involved in jewelry as well.
After my father passed away, I inherited the stones he had collected, and I naturally continued doing what I always did: making jewelry for myself and my loved ones.
Since I had quite a large collection, I decided to sell a few pieces, and little by little, the business grew organically. For me, designing the pieces is probably the easiest part!
What inspired you to pursue this path as both a designer and entrepreneur?
I come from a family of entrepreneurs—both of my brothers run their own businesses. I’ve lived in six different cities across three continents, which has made me resilient and adaptable. I also have worked in fashion for the past 15 years, so I’ve always been drawn to the creative side.
What key lessons have you learned as an entrepreneur in the luxury jewellery market?
One of the key lessons I’ve learned as an entrepreneur in the luxury jewelry market is the importance of transparency—being clear about what I’m selling and where my jewelry is made. At my level, I focus on creating high-quality pieces while offering them at a fair price.
What are the next steps for your company?
The next big step for us is launching our website, which will be a huge milestone for the company.
What is your motto?
Work hard and travel harder, work-safe-travel and repeat : )
Do you have any advice for others who are just starting their own business?
I often speak with aspiring entrepreneurs who worry about initial investments. My advice? Just do it! Start small, focus on creating a quality product, and growth will follow naturally.
