Register for our High-Level Meeting on “Financing Ocean-based Climate Solutions” next Thursday, 8 April at 9:00 EDT. This online event is co-hosted by the UN Global Compact Sustainable Ocean Business Action Platform and IDB Invest on the margins of the World Bank Spring Meetings.
Dialogues will focus on the role of governments, companies and financial institutions in securing the necessary financing for the ocean to contribute to a resilient, equitable and net-zero emissions future.
Accelerating investments in the blue economy will be a crucial lever for the ocean to deliver its full potential in supporting sustainable development and meeting the 1.5 targets of the Paris Agreement. Ocean-based companies and investors are calling for a clear framework where economic development can occur without causing harm to ecosystems or environmental degradation.
“Financing Ocean-based Climate Solutions'' will be the first high-level meeting on the UN Global Compact “Blue Road to COP 26”, exploring several ocean-based climate solutions and their drivers. The outcomes of these sessions will serve as input to the Sustainable Ocean Business Action Platform’s COP 26 recommendations on the role of the ocean in climate action.
