Impact of Carbon Tax and Opportunities in Carbon Markets
Event language(s)
English
Join us and learn about the impact of carbon tax to the businesses and opportunities in compliance and voluntary carbon markets
With the announcement by Mr. Lawrence Wong at Budget 2022, the Singapore government will raise its climate ambition to reach net zero emissions by or around 2050, and to increase the carbon tax from $5 per tonne of emissions to between $50 and $80 by 2030.
Businesses can utilise carbon credits to offset carbon tax bill and to neutralise and compensate emissions on the path to Net-Zero. They will be able to use high quality, international carbon credits to offset up to 5% of their taxable emissions from 2024, instead of paying the carbon tax. This will mitigate the impact for companies that are able to source for credible carbon credits in a cost-effective manner. This will also help to generate demand for high-quality carbon credits and catalyse the development of well-functioning and regulated carbon markets.
In this committee meeting, join us and learn about the impact of Carbon Tax to the businesses and opportunities in compliance and voluntary carbon markets.
