Nathalie Ribette : laureate of the 'Trophées des français de l’étranger'

Sing’theatre artistic director and founder, Nathalie Ribette has been awarded the “Trophee des francais de l’etranger 2020 - culture et art de vivre”.

This trophy awards the best French national in the whole world, in the arts and lifestyle category.  It is organized by Le Petit Journal in collaboration with Courrier International (Le Monde group) every year.

In February, after being informed that she would be receiving her award, she planned her trip to Paris in the midst of the spread of the pandemic. She flew 2 weeks before the ceremony was scheduled on March 18 2020, to be able to enter the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where the ceremony was to be held.

Upon her arrival, she discovered that coming from Singapore was not well received and she could not stay with family or friends; instead, she had to remain in a little hostel for a voluntary quarantine. After 10 days, Nathalie learnt that the ceremony was postponed and she had to return to Singapore as soon as possible.

She hopes to be able to receive this award in Paris later in the year, when and if the sanitary conditions allow it!

Regardless, what Nathalie cares about is bringing music to public hospitals in Singapore through 365DAYS OF MUSIC @ SINGHEALTH program. Put on hold since end January due to the virus, Sing’theatre has found a solution to continue its mission virtually. The team has worked very hard to create a weekly program with a live online concert for hospital staff, our front line heroes!

"They are there for us, and now Sing’theatre is back at SingHealth for them, with the support of all donors! On May 29, this new formula was successfully launched with the very popular and talented Benjamin Kheng at Singapore General Hospital. Hospital staff were able to watch the show live on the big screen in the cafeteria or on their smartphone, via SGH's dedicated staff platform," said Nathalie.

"This interactive program allows staff to chat with the artist and request their favourite songs while having lunch. 600 people enjoyed it during the first concert! The program will continue once a week on Friday with a different artist each week. On June 5 it was with Haneri, finalist of Singapore Idol  and Peter Diaz on June 12… Sing’theatre is thrilled to be able to fulfil its mission and continue to bring music to hospitals!"
