Past Event | Building a Successful HRBP-CEO Partnership

Our recent Human Resources committee meeting focused the synergy between HR Business Partners (HRBPs) and Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) as a key driver of organisational success.

A warm thank you to our speakers Anne Tan – HR Director at Campari Group, Matthijs Kramer, Managing Director Asia-Pacific at Campari Group,  Alicia Tee Head of Human Resources at  Bachy Soletanche Singapore and Julien Dubreuil Managing Director at Bachy Soletanche Singapore for sharing their valuable insights and real-world case studies on this import topic.

Special thanks to Isabelle Larché, Director & Co-Founder at Timeo-Performance, for skifully moderating this enriching discussion.

This  session focused on how this relationship evolve from an operational function to a truly strategic partnership, highlighting how this strategic collaboration ensures that people strategies are fully aligned with business objectives, fostering a workplace culture built on innovation, agility, and resilience.

Key Takeaways:

  • Strategic alignment & business acumen: HRBPs must understand business priorities, financials, and industry trends as CEOs expect them to act as strategic advisors, not just HR administrators.
  • Building trust & psychological safety, similar to a coach-captain relationship: the CEO benefits from an HRBP who challenges constructively, offers honest feedback, and ensures executive accountability. This relationship fosters psychological safety, allowing open discussions on leadership, team dynamics, and organizational challenges.
  • Enhancing culture & employee engagement: A strong culture is co-owned by both the CEO and HRBP and the latter must ensure that culture-building efforts, values, and employee engagement strategies align with business objectives.
