Past Event | Inspirational Women Leaders' Series #13

Our "Inspirational Women Leader Series" continues to foster meaningful dialogues around women’s leadership and gender equality, and this 13th edition was no exception. For this sold-out conversation, we were honoured to welcome Georgette Tan, Board Member and Immediate Past President at United Women Singapore and Alison Eskesen, Head of Asia at Fondation CHANEL, who shared powerful reflections from their own journeys as executive leaders and their organisations’ respective missions, programs and tools to advance women and girls’ empowerment.

Moderated by Chloé Vialard, Avocate à la Cour (Lawyer) at A&O Shearman and FCCS Board Member, the conversation explored what brought these leaders into their roles and took stock of experiences shared across Asia.

Key Takeaways:

Future-Ready Skills:  early exposure to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education is key for girls as they are more likely to see STEM as a viable and exciting path. Support from families and organisations such as UWS play a huge part in broadening their future career options and breaking down barriers that have historically kept women out of these fields.

The Fondation CHANEL, one of the largest corporate foundation footprint that focuses its support on women and girls, has close to 50 partnerships in Asia and uses a localised approach for effective and sustainable support to leverage local expertise, builds community trust, and ensure solutions are culturally and contextually appropriate.

Promotion of gender equality and social progress for young boys: the UWS Boys Empowered program aim to challenge traditional gender norms and foster a supportive environment for young boys to develop emotional intelligence, respect for others, and leadership skills.

Georgette's 'S Guide’ to Leadership: Serve, Surround, Speak up, Save, Self and Sleep offers a holistic and practical approach to leadership that emphasises both personal well-being and effective team management

Thank you to Georgette, Alison and Chloé for their invaluable contributions, and to all who joined us. We look forward to continuing these inspiring conversations as we work towards a more equitable and inclusive future.
