Past event| Closed-door dialogue with the Ministry of Manpower (MOM)

The French Chamber of Commerce Singapore held a closed-door dialogue with the Ministry of Manpower (MOM).

The session started with a presentation by MOM on Post-COS Engagement and an introduction of the COMPASS framework.

The French Chamber's President, Thomas Baudlot, then invited Dr. Koh Poh Koon, Senior Minister of State for Manpower and Health, and Ms. Gan Siow Huang, Minister of State for Manpower and Education, to a dialogue in which they explained:

  • MOM has reassured Singapore to remain open to foreign talents and business attraction
  • MOM shared about Compass, a comprehensive framework, that will give transparency and clarity
  • MOM will focus on 3 main priorities going forward:
    • Upgrade capabilities of locals and complementarity of foreigners
    • Uplift our vulnerable workers and our mature workers (promoting diversity, the inclusion of seniors and women)
    • Uphold inclusivity and progressive practices

Followed by a very interactive session and Q/A with the audience with questions from the construction, the retail, the facilities management sectors, and more.

The French Chamber of Commerce Singapore would like to express its gratitude to Dr. Koh Poh Koon, Senior Minister of State for Manpower and Health, and Ms. Gan Siow Huang, Minister of State for Manpower and Education, for their time, in answering our member’s questions, and for the numerous discussions with the French business community.

We would like also to express our appreciation to the MOM for their reassurance in remaining open to foreign talents.
