Past Event | Site Visit - NSCC Singapore -"A Unique Tropical Supercomputing Data Centre"

Thank you to Bernard Tan  and Vincent Lim from the National Supercomputing Centre Singapore (NSCCS) for hosting an insightful site visit at the Tropical Supercomputing Data Centre.

During the visit, participants had the unique opportunity to tour NSCC's second data centre, which houses advanced supercomputers like ASPIRE2A, Cray, and Nvidia DGX H100 AI. These systems, operating with a significant power demand of 3 MW, produce substantial heat.

Participants gained valuable insights into the innovative cooling solutions that allow this Platinum Green Mark Tropical Data Centre to operate without traditional air-conditioning. The centre uses direct-to-chip hot water cooling, ambient air, and a specially designed thermosiphon rear door cooling system developed in Singapore. They also learned about NSCC's use of AI, digital twins, and data analytics to enhance data centre energy efficiency.

Finally, NSCC shared its visionary plans to develop carbon-neutral and even carbon-negative supercomputer data centres, setting a sustainable standard for the future design, construction, and operation of data centres.
